Four Chord Top 40
Do you know how many thousands of pop songs over the last several decades are based on the same four chords? This video is a funny and interesting example of dozens of them. So crazy awesome cool. There’s a couple of f-bombs, so don’t proceed if you can’t handle it.
The Reaper Is Coming…
Mable is down for the count. She had a stroke last night and I don’t think she’s gonna make it. I’m getting a second opinion soon, but it’s not looking good. Oh, and don’t forget to pay your AAA dues.

A View of the US-Mexican Border
A small fence separates densely populated Tijuana, Mexico, right, from the United States in the Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector. Construction is underway to extend a secondary fence over the top of this hill and eventually to the Pacific Ocean.

Calling Out Your Name
Rich Mullins is one of those musicians who is a master of their craft. In this video, Rich showcases his hammered dulcimer skills, which I didn’t even realize he played. I’ve only heard it on his records, so I guess I didn’t think about it too much. Such a unique and beautiful sounding instrument. Wikipedia only lists a few dozen musicians who actually can play this thing (commercially, at least).
I remember my sister Heidi and I were planning on seeing a Rich Mullins concert in 1997. For some reason, we weren’t able to go and said, “oh well, we’ll just see him next time he tours.”
He died in an auto accident a few months later.
I still regret not seeing him when we had the chance. I’m still reminded of it whenever I think about seeing someone or doing something “next time.”

Weather Extremes
For all of the smack talk people give me about the “Big One” [earthquake] causing California to “fall off” the rest of the lower 48 (even though, natural disaster-wise, SoCal is statistically much safer than the rest of the country), high cost of living, and risk of wildfires… You can’t dispute the weather. Here are examples of extreme weather in St. Cloud, Minn. vs. Orange County, Calif. for this past winter and today, not even officially summer.
Minnesota = wild variability.
California = consistency.
Don’t hate.
